The Doors of the Church Are Open

Welcome
Behind our door you'll find all kinds of people who have discovered God's love is radically inclusive, embracing all persons regardless of race, color, ancestry, age, gender, affectional orientation, and those who are specially abled.
We are real people who struggle with fear, resources, lying, envy, poverty, anger, substance abuse, bullying, cruelness, arrogance, self-esteem, meanness, stupidity, impatience, hate, judgment, pride, shame, family, history, children, employment and even more.
We are not ashamed of this long and pitiful record; it proves that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives that God wills for us on our own.
We know we need Christ, the Light.

The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.
                                     -Audre Lorde
We discovered God's love.  We have found strength, hope in hopeless situations, power, deliverance, healing and reconciliations with those we love and ways to cope and manage our lives in healthy and spiritual ways.  God got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where we were created to be.

A NEW MINISTRY VISION
Pastor’s Val’s pioneer calling, has created opportunities for experimentation.  Her adventurous spirit has empowered her to find new ways by which the gospel can be incorporated within contemporary social experience.  She doesn’t confess to have it all figured out, someone has said:” there is no map but I am not lost.”  She is walking by faith and listening to God daily.  These are the directions so far.

ARTIST WELCOME
We are a new community which has committed itself to be intentional and embracing of spirituality expressed through religion and the arts. Under the artistic direction of Valerie Troutt, B.F.A. (Pastor Val’s associate and daughter) we are blessed by the extraordinary talents of  artists, particularly the musicians, visual  and spoken artist who have found sanctuary within the church’s space.   New Community Fellowship believes the arts are essential to human survival and fundamental to the expression of life.

We intentionally embrace artists who are marginalized, fragmented and compromised by traditional beliefs that define artistic gifts and talents as secular.  We are constantly developing programs and opportunities celebrate creativity in everyone.

“People find their world interpreted in fresh ways through the arts and enlarge their capacity for feeling.  The arts witness to human creative power and freedom.  They introduce imagination that liberates, startles or inspires.  The arts undermine denial of feeling and seeing; integrate body, emotion, and thought; and provide respite from pain. Unfortunately there are deeply rooted cultural patterns in Western society that separate mind from body, resist the senses, and created alienated, disembodied ways of being.  The arts heal this split and provide a gracious resource for wholeness in a world of severed connections.” (SKSM Educational Planning Committee, 1993).
